One of my biggest regrets is holding back too often, choosing silence when I should’ve spoken up.

I’ve always been the type to think things through before saying anything. Sometimes too much. I grew up believing that staying quiet was a way to keep the peace, to protect others from my own discomfort or disappointment. And over time, that became a habit. I kept things in, even when they mattered. Even when they hurt.

There were moments where I wish I had said what I truly felt. Times when I should’ve said no, or I’m not okay, or simply, I need you to understand me. But I didn’t. I nodded, I smiled, I stayed quiet. And a part of me still wonders how different things could’ve been if I’d just spoken from the heart.

If I had the chance to do things differently, I’d want to be braver. Not in a loud, reckless way, but in the way that lets me be honest, even when it’s hard. I want to believe that sharing how I feel doesn’t make me a burden. That vulnerability isn’t weakness. And that sometimes, caring for others also means letting them care for me too.
